Clanfield Cross 2024 - 2025 Season
Q. Are washers available in the pits?
A. Yes, we are providing 12 washers in the pits… BUT, we are suggesting a voluntary donation of £5 PER RIDER. All donations are split equally between Ride for Charlie and EvoDevo. It will help prove the concept of providing washer facilities at races and whether riders place some value on not having to trawl water and washers around the country. We will be publishing a list or riders who kindly donated.
Q. Is there an under 12 race?
A. See timetable on website. this race can include U10 riders. This is provisional on having sufficient volunteers to help over the weekend. If you want this race we need people to sign up to volunteer over the weekend.
Q. Do you need a race licence?
A. Yes, a full race licence is required for national events. This can be done via British Cycling. No day licences at national events.
Q. Is this a counting round of the Wessex League?
A. Yes. Riders who normally race the Wessex League can race the national trophy and use the result as a counting round in the league. The idea is to encourage local riders to race a National Trophy. Remember this is optional and you don’t have to do it.
Q. Can I volunteer and claim Wessex League points?
A. Yes. Riders in the league who volunteer at the event will be eligible for average points. We will submit a list of riders who volunteered to the Wessex League after the event.
Volunteer using this link.
Q. How are points allocated to the Wessex League?
A. Is there is an equivalent stand alone race in the Trophy and League e.g. Vet 40 men, then points will be awarded where you finish relative to other Wessex riders in that race. If there is not an equivalent race e.g. all women (who race across lots of different categories and races in the trophy, but one race in the league), then average points will be awarded.
Q. Are lights required by riders for the floodlight races?
A. No lights required as it is floodlit. There are ONLY night races for U12’s (see Q above) and for the Inter-regional teams.
Q. Are there any U8 races?
A. We are currently working on a plan to include an U8 race, but we are already squeezing in four extra races to the trophy weekend, and we are struggling with time and volunteers to run another race.
Q. Will I be pulled?
A. On Saturday nobody will be pulled (removed from the race before the end) as the races are not UCI races. On Sunday the decision whether to apply the 80% rule (UCI rule 5.1.052 defines who shall be pulled) in the UCI races is between the head UCI comm and the organiser. We will be asking that this rule is not applied, but that decision has not been made yet. Lapped riders will be pulled in any event.
